I had always taken photos, mostly vacation snapshots and pictures of pets. I even took a photography class in college, but I never got serious about it until a rebrand at work. I was the graphic designer and marketing person at Como Park Zoo in Minnesota, and the new brand shifted our visual focus from illustration to photography. The zoo bought me a DSLR, I learned on the job, and it grew into a hobby and eventually part of the work itself. I am mostly a travel photographer now, but wildlife and nature are still my favorite part of the genre. In fact, they often decide where I go. A lot of my trips start with a question: what lives there, and can I photograph it?
